  • Marriage therapy isn't just for couples in dire straits. 🗣 In a relationship? If the answer is “yes,” it’s time to consider couples therapy. Counseling may seem like a waste of effort when things are going smoothly, but therapists around the country say it’s always a good time to stop in; you don’t need a huge problem to be the catalyst. “I’ve always been a believer that therapy is not just for making dysfunctional relationships good, but for making good relationships great," says psychologist Ryan Howes. • This is amazing. 💞 This week, Jennifer Lopez recalled the “simple and wise” marriage advice she received from Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Lopez told “The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon how she became enthralled with the high court justice after watching the documentary “RBG” soon after getting engaged to former New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez. Ginsburg’s happy marriage to late husband Marty struck a particular chord with J.Lo. When she and Rodriguez ended up meeting with Ginsburg in her chambers, Lopez wasted no time in asking for the secret to a successful relationship. RBG replied: "I’ll tell you what my mother-in-law told me on my wedding day, which was ‘It’s good to be a little deaf sometimes.'" 😂 // 📷: Getty Images

  • Here's what to talk about in therapy when you don't have anything specific to say. 👉 If you go to therapy regularly, you’ve likely talked about a range of issues. Therapy is excellent if you’re dealing with depression, a work issue, family matters, relationship struggles or other challenges. But therapists say some of the most fulfilling sessions begin with a client saying, “I have no big updates” at the start of the hour. “By not planning, we shift to the more subtle things that might be overlooked if we launch directly into predetermined content,” said Kathleen Dahlen deVos, a psychotherapist based in San Francisco. // Learn more in the link in bio. // 🎨: @yukai_du for HuffPost

  • Pete Buttigieg made history with his coming out story at the Democratic debate last night. 🏳️‍🌈 In his closing statement, Buttigieg candidly told the story of his coming out in response to a question about resilience. The moment marks the first in American history when we’ve heard someone from the LGBTQ community openly talk on a presidential debate stage about what it was like to come out. Many supporters of Buttigieg and viewers of the debate lauded the politician for his transparency. Outside of Buttigieg’s memorable admission, though, the debate lacked discussion on issues faced by the LGBTQ community. // 📷: Getty Images

  • So true. 👏 In an interview with Marie Claire, soccer star Megan Rapinoe discussed her ongoing fight for equal pay and the contradictory way people treated her both before ― and after ― her big win. She added: “You deserve the space that you can take up. And you can take up as much space as you need.” // 📷: Getty Images

  • Greta Thunberg explains why her Asperger’s is a "superpower" that helps her activism. 💪 Greta Thunberg may be a leading voice when it comes to environmental issues, but she seems to be establishing herself as a budding disability advocate as well. In an Instagram post this weekend, the 16-year-old Nobel Peace Prize nominee noted that she has Asperger’s syndrome and wrote that her autism “means I’m sometimes a bit different from the norm. And — given the right circumstances — being different is a superpower.” She added in an interview: “It makes you think differently. And especially in such a big crisis like this one we need to think outside the box." // 📷: Getty Images

  • A Christian seminary in Virginia has announced it is setting aside $1.7 million in an endowment fund to pay reparations to the descendants of slaves who were forced to work on its campus decades ago. Virginia Theological Seminary said that the fund is an effort to “repair the material consequences of our sin in the past.” The school, which was founded in 1823, benefited from the work of enslaved African Americans on its Alexandria campus. The seminary’s dean, Rev. Ian Markham, said that the school recognized a need to pair repentance about its past with tangible action. “This is a start,” Markham said. “As we seek to mark the Seminary’s milestone of 200 years, we do so conscious that our past is a mixture of sin as well as grace.”// 📷: Virginia Theological Seminary
